Football Lineman Training Equipment Built for Real Programs
The line of scrimmage decides games. Pads, sleds, and dummies aren’t accessories — they’re the difference between a unit that finishes blocks in November and one that gets pushed off the ball. Every piece of football lineman training equipment on this page is built in Humboldt, Iowa by Hadar Athletic, a family-owned manufacturer that has supplied coaches for over 65 years. No re-branded import gear. No “fitness influencer” foam. Just the equipment serious programs depend on.
What Lineman Training Equipment Should Actually Do
Linemen need three things from their training gear, in this order: survive the season, replicate game-day contact, and develop position-specific technique. Most equipment on the market does one of those well. Ours is engineered to do all three.
- Blocking equipment — Pop-up dummies and stand-up shields train hand placement, pad level, and finish. The Pop-Up Blocking Dummy with Permanent Arms and the Multi-Tackle 4-Sided Dummy are built for daily reps from August through state playoffs.
- Sleds — Resistance work builds the leg drive and hip extension that wins double teams and combo blocks. The HX Varsity, Middle School, and Youth Sleds scale with your program. The MHX Workout Sled adds individual conditioning capability.
- Footwork and movement tools — Trapezoid Agility Dummies and Adjustable Linemen Splits Markers help O-line and D-line coaches drill stance, first step, and pulling angles with consistency.
How to Build a Complete Lineman Training System
Random equipment produces random results. A complete lineman station should let you cycle athletes through three movements in the same practice block: strike, drive, and move. That typically means at least one stand-up dummy or pop-up, one sled appropriate to your athletes’ size and strength, and a set of agility dummies or splits markers to organize spacing. Programs running a 60–90 minute practice window can run 15–20 reps per athlete per group using this setup.
For high school varsity programs, we generally recommend starting with the HX Varsity Double Runner Sled, two Pop-Up Blocking Dummies, and a set of Trapezoid Agility Dummies. Middle school and youth programs should scale to the HX Middle School or Youth Sled and the Pop-Up Football Dummy with Molded Bottoms, which is weighted for smaller athletes.
